Cheryl Ann (Hamness) Stauffenecker Cheryl Ann (Hamness) Stauffenecker

Cheryl Ann (Hamness) Stauffenecker was born on April 12, 1954 in Greenbush, MN and left this earth on Friday evening, June 14, 2024.

Cheryl married her high school sweetheart, Lonnie Stauffenecker on September 23, 1972 and they made their home in Warren, MN.

Cheryl held multiple positions from being a homemaker (with a 1/2 acre garden!) to a potato truck driver to a jewelry store manager and excelled at anything she put her mind to. While raising her family, she attended the University of North Dakota (UND) graduating with honors from the college of Nursing. She was a labor and delivery nurse at Altru for 21 years. In that time, she completed her master’s in nursing and fulfilled her passion for educating the next generation of nurses as a Nurse Educator at UND. Her teaching led to an instrumental position at the UND Simulation Center as a Simulation Education Coordinator.

If you knew Cheryl, you knew that she loved Jesus and her family. She walked fast and took charge. Her love of adventure and medicine led her to make multiple missions trips to Haiti as well as Egypt and Ethiopia. She was a talented seamstress and could sew original designs as well as fix anything you brought her. She also enjoyed quilting and making prayer quilts and baby dedication blankets for Hope Church. Cheryl had a flair for decorating and Christmas was her favorite time to showcase her talent. She was a voracious reader and was always in the middle of a book. Whenever she cooked or baked, she made extra in the event she could share it with someone.

In her retirement, she opened the “Little Dress Shop in Warren”. She made original doll clothes and did sewing alterations for many.

Our beloved wife, mom and Nana will be missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Lonnie and her kids, Tina (Todd) Larsen, Tracy (Jason) Turner and Scott (Keely) Stauffenecker. Grandkids: Trevor (Shelly), Bryant (Amber), Nathan, Emily (Nick) and Abby (Ethan). Great grandkids: Hudson, Judah, Carl, Oswald, Baker, Lainey, Camryn, Anastasia and Winston. Siblings: Joan and Daniel.

Cheryl leaves a legacy of service to others, a love of learning and a strong faith in her savior Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Eunice Hamness, brother Greg and sister Joyce.
