Adeline Locken Adeline Locken

Adeline was born on October 29, 1941, to Alex and Helen (Erickson) Roy. She was raised in the Lake Bronson/Halma area and graduated from Lake Bronson High School.

On June 22, 1963, Adeline was united in marriage to James (Jim) Locken. From this union two children were born, Shannon and Jeff. Adeline lived with her family in Minneapolis, Halma, and Lancaster. Adeline and Jim moved to Greenbush in their later years and Adeline had resided at Lifecare Manor in Greenbush since 2014.

Adeline worked at Artic Cat in Karlstad, Kittson Memorial Hospital in Hallock and Marvin Windows in Warroad. She enjoyed her jobs through the years, but her greatest enjoyment was her family. There was never the word no with Grandma and she was very generous with treats. She never missed a grandchild activity and always took time to visit and enjoy their company. Jim and Adeline loved a good game of Bingo and had a circuit they played for many years. They loved drives in the country in the little red pickup. The drives usually included stops at Shannon or Jeff’s homes. Adeline loved Twins baseball and often sat outside to listen to the game on the radio. She loved being outdoors and getting fresh air. In the Care Center, Adeline never missed a musical event and loved going on van rides. She was the bright spot in the Center, talking about cowboys, horses and generally being silly.

In October of 2022, Adeline became a great grandmother to Adeline Johanna Niehoff. Grandma Adeline was very proud of her namesake and shared stories with her a couple of different times before her passing on May 11, 2023, at LifeCare Greenbush Manor at the age of 81.

Adeline is survived by her daughter Shannon Mortenson (Richard), Warren, son Jeff (Anita), Strathcona, grandchildren Paige Mortenson (Mike Niehoff), James Peter (JP) Mortenson, Josee Locken and Tristan Locken, great grandchild, Adeline Niehoff, brother Larry Roy (Ruby), sister in law Doris Roy, Joanne Quiner, Carol Peterson (Arlie), Karen Klava, Debbie Bobinchak (Rick) and brother in law Robert Locken (Rogene). Adeline is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Locken, mother Helen Roy, brother Robert Roy and in-laws Fred and Anna Locken.

A Memorial service was held at 10:00AM, Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home in Greenbush with Pastor Curt Johnson presiding. Nancy Johnson was the Organist playing congregational hymns “Amazing Grace” and “You Are My Sunshine”. Special music was provided by Pastor Curt Johnsons singing “Bulah Land”.
