Nolan B. Kjos of Greenbush, MN passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2022 at the age of 62. Nolan was born June 30, 1960 in Roseau MN to Lyle and Marlene Kjos. He graduated early in 1978, with the help of Charlie and some other select friends from Greenbush High School. Nolan spent his early years trapping with his dad and working at Boze’s Bait. He began his personal farming career at age 17 with his dad by his side.
He married Roxann in 1980. Nolan and Roxy welcomed son, Kyle in 1983 and son, Kenny in 1986.

A plane crash in 1986 couldn’t slow him down. After the crash Nolan and Roxy chased their two sons around to their many activities for years- Nolan complaining of “bleacher ass” but loving every minute of it.

After the kids graduated, Roxy and Nolan spent a few years doing lots of traveling around the southern states, finally settling in Key Largo Florida where they owned a couple homes for about 10 years- because if one is good- two is better. Ocean fishing became his passion and a new challenge to conquer.

Nolan enjoyed fishing, and hunting every opportunity, in and out of season. His biggest passion was farming and Nolan and Roxy built and expanded the family farm operation over the years. He continued to leave part of his heart on the farm when Kyle and Kenny eventually took over the operation.
Nolan’s grandchildren were the light of his life and he spent every chance he could with any and all of them - fishing, hunting, woodworking, putting together machines, shooting in the shootin’ shack, and making trails and forts in the woods.

He had a love for life and adventure that was infectious. He lived his life spontaneously and by the mantra of - “You don’t know where the line is till you cross it.” (Good, bad, or otherwise)

Nolan is preceded in death by his dad Lyle, infant brother Timmy, and his father-in-law Papa Bob.

Nolan is survived by his wife Roxy, sons Kyle (Amanda), Kenny (Kristy), grand children Carter, Mia, Hannah, Kein, and Gianna, his mother Marlene, sisters Lydell and Lanae(Dan),his enduring friend Glen Darst, his constant companion- dog- shadow, and many, many other family and friends.

A Memorial Service for Nolan Kjos was held on Sunday, August 28 at 3:00pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.
