Daniel D. Carriere, 89, of Hallock, Minnesota, died at the Kittson Memorial Nursing home on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

Daniel was born in Terrebonne, Minnesota, on September 12th, 1933, the son of Joseph and Rebecca Carriere. He spent his early years living and attending school near Terrebonne, Minnesota. In 1947, Dan moved with his family to Hallock where they owned and operated theaters in Hallock and Drayton. Dan graduated from Hallock High School in 1952, and served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. On June 25, 1955, Dan married Layne Hennum of Kennedy, MN. From this marriage came four children; Jody, Scott, Jay, and Sherri. After his military service, they made their home in Hallock and worked alongside his family in the theater business. Dan later owned and operated H E Everson auto parts stores in Hallock and Karlstad. Dan was proud of his community and looked for any and every opportunity to serve. Layne passed away on April 6, 2000. In August 2002, Dan was united in marriage with Donna Wilwand of Pembina, ND. Dan and Donna enjoyed 21 years of retirement together spending summers in Hallock and winters in Arizona.

Dan is survived by his wife Donna; sons Scott (Diana), Hallock and Jay (Roberto), Milton, DE; one daughter Sherri (Scott) Klein, Hallock; six grandchildren: Emily and Graham (Kaylee), Greg and Trisha, Jackson (Brooke) and Gunnar, seven great grandchildren: Brianna Carriere, Mikko, Henrik, and Wynne Strand, Noah and Violet Mootz and Foster Klein; a brother, Roger Carriere, Fulton, TX, sisters, Lucy Jerome, Birmingham, AL, Elsie Arena, Arleta, CA, Donna's children; sons Kelly (Kari), Scott, Tim (Lois), and daughter Tracy (Dmitry) Eresov; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yvonne Carriere, brothers-in-law, Ronnie Hennum, and Robert (Pam) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife Layne, a daughter Jody Mootz, brother Duane, and sister Janice Zobeck.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the services. Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock.
