Obituary/Renee Jeanette Stanislawski, 83

Renee Jeanette Stanislawski, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. Renee was born on June 26, 1943 in Roseau, Mn. She was the second child born to Roy & Petra (Aune) Larson, along with siblings, Myrna, Wayne, Delray, Leland & Lynette. They grew up on the family farm in Gatzke, Mn. 

 Renee graduated from Middle River High School in 1961. She moved to the cities and met the love of her life, Gerald, who ironically had grown up only 40 miles away from her. Renee & Gerald married on October 12, 1963 in Leo, Mn.

They built a wonderful life together. Michelle arrived in 1964, Jodi followed in 1967, and Douglas in 1970. The family then suffered a devasting loss when, at age 10 months, Douglas became ill and passed away. Lara was then born in 1972 and Kristi in 1974. Renee & Gerald made the decision to adopt Troy from Korea in 1975. 

 Renee chose to stay at home with the kids while they were young. She eventually worked various jobs until she became the bookkeeper at MN School of Business, a position she held for nearly 20 years.  

 Renee loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports, dance, and perform in theater. She especially loved basketball. She held season tickets to the Mn Lynx with Jodi since their inaugural season. She knew every player who played for the Gophers and rarely missed a game. 

 Renee was a master seamstress, including sewing matching outfits for her kids one Christmas! As they grew older, she made blankets, bath towels, pillowcases, and many other things for their families. She also made quilts, a skill she passed on to some of her daughters!

 Renee loved playing cards and cribbage and was a proud member of the North Suburban Whist Club. Her favorite trip every year was the Larson Family Campout – something she attended 30+ years. But her favorite activity was being with the family she created. 61 years of marriage, 5 children and spouses, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grand-children – and Renee was the rock of it all. The family gathered often because of her.

 Renee is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gerald; son Douglas; parents Roy & Petra Larson; mother and father-in-law, Alex & Frances Stanislawski; sister Myrna (Daniel) Gajeski; brother Leland Larson; sister-in-law Georgine (John) McMartin & Louise Brekke; brother-in-law Floyd Blawat; and close friends Jerome & Barb Mrozek.

 Renee is survived by her children, Michelle (Darrell) Roering, Jodi, Lara (Darrell) Peterson, Troy, and Kristi; grandchildren, Chelsea (Bryan), Matthew (Francine), Lexie (Jake), Alex (Kala), Nik, Asher, Taysia, Ellie, Austin, Leah, Colton, Ayden, William, Elliott and Amelia; great-grandchildren, Stella, Bernardo, and Juniper; siblings, Wayne (Janice) Larson, Delray (Janice) Larson, Linda Larson, and Lynette (Cal) Lunemann; Gerald’s siblings, Alice Blawat, Dennis Brekke, John (Connie) Stanislawski, Kathy (Tim) Timm; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 The funeral will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 am at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Center, MN, with visitation starting at 10:00 am. In lieu of memorials, donations preferred to Moose River Township Cemetery in Gatzke, Mn or Saint Aloysius Cemetery in Leo, Mn.
