ObituaryLouise Lorraine Brekke, 84 ObituaryLouise Lorraine Brekke, 84

Louise Lorraine Brekke, the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother a family could ask for, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on the late evening of May 5, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on August 2, 1940, on the family farm near Greenbush, Louise lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and service to others. She lived in Germany, Strandquist, and later Warren, where she spent the remainder of her life. Louise graduated from Greenbush High School in 1958 and soon met a handsome young Swede named Dennis Brekke. The two were united in marriage on February 27, 1960, at Saint Columba Chapel, beginning a remarkable love story that would span more than 66 years.
In 1967 Louise moved to Warren when Dennis accepted a job at the sheriff’s department. In 1973, Dennis and Louise owned Brekke’s Hartz Store and H&B Oil Company in Strandquist, Minnesota. In 1978, after Dennis was elected Sheriff of Marshall County, the family moved to Warren, where they built a home known for warmth, laughter, and hospitality. Louise believed there should always be enough food for everyone at gatherings, and she lived by the words, “Our door is always open,” and “Our home is your home.” She truly was the heart of the family.
Louise worked as a clerk at the Warren Pharmacy from 1978 until her retirement in 2012. She cherished attending sporting events and especially loved cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in volleyball and basketball. She was also a devoted fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves and enjoyed attending games at Target Center.
A gifted family historian, Louise lovingly documented the lives and milestones of her family through countless scrapbooks that will be treasured for generations. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She religiously attended church, volunteered generously, and dedicated her time to charitable and community organizations, including The Dennis & Louise Brekke Family Foundation for WAO High School, serving as an officer on the church council, and participating in the Birthday Club. Education was very important to Louise and she was proud that all five of her children graduated from college.
Above all else, Louise was devoted to her family. Her deep love and enduring friendship with her husband Dennis stood as a shining example of marriage rooted in faith and unconditional love. This same love extended to her children: Steve (Desilee), Kim (Cole), Mike (Susan), Scott (Joyce), and Chad (Cathy). She was a proud grandmother to Samantha (Dave), Jamison (Madisyn), Katrina (Ethan), Brandon, Danielle, Lindsy, Cody, Cole, Emily, Brooke (Austin), Madison (Mat), Levi, and Ella, and was further blessed with eight great-grandchildren; Lexi, Ellie, Jude, Boden, Aiden, Theodore, Sophia, and Nova. Her kindness, wisdom, feistiness, and treasured memories will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Louise is survived by her siblings Alice Blawat, Kathy (Tim) Timm; John (Connie) Stanislawski and sister-in-law, Renee Stanislawski who will continue carrying forward the many wonderful memories they shared with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Frances Stanislawski; sister Georgine McMartin and brother-in-law John McMartin; brother Gerald Stanislawski and brother-in-law Floyd Blawat.
The Brekke family finds peace knowing Louise is now home with Jesus Christ, her Savior. Though she will be profoundly missed, her light and
legacy will continue to shine through all whose lives she touched. May
we honor her memory by praising God, loving and helping others, and
cherishing every moment we are given.
