Loretta Virginia Langaas, 87, of Greenbush, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Lifecare Medical Center in Roseau, MN. 
Loretta was born on February 17, 1939, in Kittson County, Minnesota, to Julius Herman and Estella Caroline (Peterson) Fossell. She grew up in the Kennedy, Stephen and Karlstad areas and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1957. She was baptized and confirmed in the Free Lutheran faith. 
Loretta was united in marriage to Kenneth Joel Langaas in 1959. Together they made their home in rural Greenbush where they raised their 4 children. They built a life centered on family, faith, horses and sewing. In the early years of marriage, she worked alongside Kenneth in the field, milking cows and building and remodeling houses. Kenneth preceded her in death in 2017.  
 Loretta also worked as a seamstress her whole life. Through the years, she held many sewing jobs, including sewing clothing for Arctic Cat, reupholstering furniture, sewing duvets, curtains, quilts , and eventually miniature doll making. She was especially known for her precise work in whatever she did. She had a deep love for sewing, which remained a lifelong hobby and passion. 
 She is survived by her children: Keith (Karyl) Langaas, Lowell (Rebecca) Langaas, Gary (MaDonna) Langaas, and Tammy (Jeffrey) Wahl; her sister, Dianne Anderson Greenbush; her brother, James Fossell of Wild Rose, WI; and sister-in-law Joyce (Charles) Snyder of Greenbush; along with 8 grandchildren – Alexa (Jesse) Bialas, Trey (Beth) Langaas, Cody (Megan) Langaas, Taylor (Eli) Jenson, Heather (Rory) Connell, Adam (Candice) Langaas, Aubrey (Dominique) Johnson, Jordan (Erin) Wahl;  22 Great grandchildren – Micah, Milania, Maddilina, Mason and Maddox Bialas; Case and Isabel Langaas, Josephine Jenson; Colton, Jackson, Riley and Lily Connell; Cale Lindland, Cora, Colt, and Cloe Langaas; Kyla, Carter, Mia and Maggie Johnson; Thayer and Goldie Wahl: Marlene Anderson (classmate and lifelong friend).
Preceded in death by Kenneth, sister Carol Mae Sandstrom; brothers Vernon Fossell, Allan “Buddy” Fossell, and infant brother Merle Fossell; and brothers- and sisters-in-law Orleen Anderson, Carol Jean Fossell, Dorothy Fossell, Turre Sandstrom, and Karen Fossell, and Grandson Levi Langaas, and niece Lynn Klein. 
Funeral services will be held at Oiland Free Lutheran Church, Rural Greenbush, MN on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with visitation held one hour before the service. Burial will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rural Greenbush, MN.
