Rebecca “Becky” Ann Johnston, 61

Rebecca “Becky” Ann Johnston passed away at her home in Roseau on May 13th at the age of 61. Becky was born in 1963 to Rudy and Alice (Mlodzik) Blawat in Roseau. She graduated in 1982 from Greenbush High School where she was the Snowfest Queen her senior year. Becky recently retired from Polaris after a 40-year career where she worked multiple positions over the years. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, flowers, yard work, cooking and baking. She was also very fond of going on pontoon rides with friends and family. She made friends and kept up many relationships in the Greenbush and Roseau area over the years. Becky will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Becky is preceded in death by her father, Rudy Blawat, grandparents, Floyd and Mary Blawat and John and Elsie Mlodzik, uncles, Rafine Blawat and Floyd Blawat, and aunts, Loretta (Phillip) Pelowski, Deloris (Merle) Anderson, Dena (Leroy) Pulczinski, and Ann Marie (Leroy) Heltne.
She is survived by her mother, Alice Blawat of Greenbush, daughter, Tishel Schwegel of Sartell, son, Austin Johnston of Red Wing, grandchildren, Tanya and Jeremiah Schwegel, siblings Bill (Barb) Blawat of Greenbush, Brian (Nancy) Blawat of Greenbush, Barbie Blawat of Badger, Bradley (Cathi) Blawat of Greenbush, aunt, Lorraine Blawat of Greenbush, Alice A. Blawat of Greenbush, an uncle, Leonard (Rosemary) Mlodzik of Chisholm and her life partner, Jeffery Taylor of Roseau.
A memorial service was held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush on May 20th, at 2:00 PM with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will be at Leo Cemetery following the service. Because Becky loved the color pink, you’re encouraged to wear pink or any bright color in her remembrance on the day of the service.
