John “Leonard” Kukowski John “Leonard” Kukowski

John “Leonard” Kukowski was born in Leo, Mn. on November 24, 1930 to John and Marian (Wirkus) Kukowski.  He attended country school through 8th grade and then went on to help on his family farm.  Leonard enlisted in the Army on January 18, 1955 and served his country until his discharge on January 12, 1957.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Dalager on June 8, 1957 and the two made their home in Minneapolis where he was employed by Rap N Wax Factory.  He and Shirly divorced in 1967 and Leonard moved back to Greenbush to help work his family farm where he resided until entering LifeCare Greebush Manor in 2018 where he passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at the age of 93.
Leonard enjoyed playing pinochle, fishing, trips to Las Vegas & local casinos, and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his children Lynette Mardirosian and Stewart Kukowski of Fresno, CA,  Grandchildren: Heidi, Holly, Amber, and Kinsley, Great Grandchildren: Payton, Steven, Raymond and Kalab, Brothers: Kenneth of Belton, MO, Ernest of Elk River, MN, and Leroy (Kristin) Kukowski of Plentiwood, Mt., Sisters: Elinor Koshenina of Greenbush, Mary Jean Shelby of Blaine, MN, Brother in Law Rodger Gramstad of Corcoran, MN, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sharlyn, Brothers Daniel and Norbert Kukowski, Sister Vangie Gramstad, Sister in Laws Darlene and Marcie, Brother in laws Jerome Koshenina and Gerry Shelby, and his special friend Annette Bergsnev.
Funeral services were held at 10:30AM, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush.
Visitation was held after 5PM, Friday, with Rosary at 6:45 and prayer service to follow at the church.  Visitation was also be one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment services were held at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery of Leo, MN following services.
Military Honors were accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post #88 and the Minnesota National Guard.
